Request
for Photos
of Crystal Lake
Hi Folks,
On our Featured Photo pages, we are displaying some the many wonderful aspects of
Crystal Lake, in Benzie County, Michigan; its beauty, uniqueness, and intriguing
nature. To this end, we are seeking your photos which highlight something special
about Crystal Lake and its watershed. If we use your photo, it will be displayed
on our current Featured Photo page, and with full credit to you, the photographer.
There are two ways to submit photos
to us...
Obtain a free Flickr.com account, upload your photos there, then
submit them to our Crystal Lake Michigan
Gems Flickr group. (Flickr
is a wonderful site for photographers of all levels. As with all Flickr groups, you
should read ad follow the Group Rules before submitting photos to that group.)
As it says in the rules, this group is for photos of Crystal Lake only "submitted
photos should be of Crystal Lake as the significant element of the photo and show
off some unique facet of Crystal Lake."
You may also email your digital
photos directly to us via
email. Here you may send
us photos taken anywhere within the Crystal Lake watershed, but they must
highlight some significant natural feature within Crystal Lake watershed. How do
you know if you're in the Crystal Lake Watershed? See this map.
Regardless of how they are submitted,
all photos must follow these rules:
Submitted photo(s) should:
be a JPG format file
be a minimum of 600 pixels wide
be from your better photos --
be selective, choose from your favorites
Flickr users: put Crystal Lake"
and "Michigan in the tags. "Benzie County" would be nice, too.
include helpful information, such
as:
name of the photographer
where the photo was taken
what is showing / going on in
the photo,
which direction the photo is looking
rough time of day and the date
unique weather conditions
details of what that makes the
photo of special significance to Crystal Lake
Submitted photos must NOT:
include personal / family photos
be a string of snapshots of the
same subject
be significantly altered from
the natural integrity of the scene other than what is needed to correct the image
to match what you saw with the naked eye.
